a new blog format cometh

messing with the layout of my blog posts, so now it looks like this ^_^ i always feel nostalgic for the way da/lj formats/formatted entries, so it's not the most original thing in the world (or that much different from the rest of what i've done already...), but i'm going to draw out some icons to use to accompany posts to get back into the habit of drawing (small) things daily and i guess that'll inject a little more originality into this whole thing.
normal blogging stuff: i'm reading
the castle of otranto by horace wadpole which is pretty fun. it's really very thin, barely a hundred pages, even though the title makes it sound so foreboding, so maybe i'll finish it up soon. found it tucked away in the corner of a secondhand market we went to some time back; i was having a hard time of finding it in libraries/bookstores, so it was a pleasant surprise. so far an enormous helmet has crushed a sickly prince to death and a princess has run away (from a forced marriage to the prince's father, very donkeyskin-esque, very horrifying - especially when his name is manfred, which is a name that no woman would ever really want to marry) through a trap-door, so it's really fulfilling all my expectations.
some quotes i like so far:
"... whoever you are, take pity on a wretched princess standing on the brink of destruction: assist me to escape from this fatal castle, or in a few moments i may be made miserable for ever."
"my life is of consequence to nobody: i fear no bad angel, and have offended no good one."
in other news, i made banana bread again. hooray lol
